Mandatory Training for BSIS
The BSIS requires all newly licensed or employed security guards to complete four mandatory training courses within specific timeframes. In accordance with Section 7583.6(b) of the California Business and Professions Code:
The Initial Training Requirement must be completed within the first 30 days of receiving your guard card or starting employment.
The Ongoing Training Requirement must be completed within the first six months of employment or guard card issuance.
Each course is four (4) hours in length and is offered individually to ensure flexibility and compliance.

Build essential skills for interacting with the public and customers, managing complaints, and maintaining a professional image in the field.
✅ Observation & Documentation – 4 Hours
Learn how to properly observe and document incidents in a clear, accurate, and legally sound manner — a critical responsibility for any security professional.
✅ Communication and Its Significance – 4 Hours
Strengthen your ability to communicate effectively using verbal and non-verbal techniques, and apply de-escalation strategies when needed.
✅ Liability / Legal Aspects – 4 Hours
Understand your legal obligations, limitations, and how to minimize liability while carrying out your duties as a security officer.
