California law requires all BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit holders to qualify four times during the life of their two-year permit β twice per year, with each qualification spaced at least four months apart.

Handcuffing
This four-hour course will provide the student with the familiarization and use of various restraint techniques. The student learn to articulate the basic laws of arrest, and the proper application of restraint devices. The course will cover liabilities associated with the use of these devices. The student will be able to perform several handcuffing techniques and the proper method of searching arrestees for weapons and means of escape.

Taser & OC Spray
This course complies with the Department of Justice, State of California requirements for licensed security officers to legally possess βLess Lethalβ devices while on duty. Certifications attained upon completion include tear gas, pepper spray, TASER, and stun gun. Upon completion, students will be provided wallet cards to confirm the certification of the less lethal devices, as required for on-duty use.

Mandatory Training Courses
Mandatory Training for Courses β BSIS
BSIS requires all newly licensed or employed security guards to complete four mandatory training courses within specific timeframes. In accordance with Section 7583.6(b) of the California Business and Professions Code:
The Initial Training Requirement must be completed within the first 30 days of receiving your guard card or starting employment.
The Ongoing Training Requirement must be completed within the first six months of employment or guard card issuance.
Each course is four (4) hours in length and is offered individually to ensure flexibility and compliance.
